2.12.02 Leiki headquarters move to center of Helsinki
The Finnish headquarters of Leiki have moved to an impressive Jugend style house built in 1905 in the heart of Helsinki. The new street address is Pohjoinen Makasiinikatu 7 A 4, 00130 Helsinki. The phone numbers and electronic addresses remain unchanged.
1.11.02 Leiki introduces automatic profiling with MeSH
Leiki has developed an automatic profiling and personalisation system for biomedical content based on the Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) ontology developed by the National Institute of Health.
The classification structure has about 20 000 categories (headings) and more than 100 000 word patterns connected to them. Our first application for the ontology has been Leiki News with Reuters medical sciences content, where very comprehensive profiles are formed of each article. The feed is then personalised by learning from user actions and feedback. With features such as intelligent profile based search included we are excited about connecting the product to biomedical databases.

15.2.02 News is the most popular service in Sonera Mspace
News in Mspace is a version of Leiki News for PDAs. Like our other services, it uses the Leiki Targeting personalisation technology to continuously adapt a news feed to the user's interests. A special point in this implementation done for Sonera is the unique level of privacy provided by a user-held, user-controlled personal profile.
In a user survey News was found to be the most popular service of the many 3G candidates offered in the pilot. As we have observed with our other services, our continuously learning personalisation approach significantly increases intensity of use and product lifespan for all content services. This success and the privacy advantages are discussed in this Digitoday article - in Finnish only, sorry!
30.11.01 Radiolinja and Aktivist launch the world's easiest mobile dating service
Freedate ("Vapaahaku" in Finnish) is a mobile dating service that combines an extreme ease of use with detailed profiling and matching of users. It is the first dating service where profiling is done on the go from free-form SMS messages instead of time-consuming WWW forms filled with a PC. The SMS interface doesn't use hard-to-remember parameters which enables spontaneous, instruction-free mobile dating for the first time.
Radiolinja currently has 1.2 million subscribers in Finland. Its network was used for the first GSM call in the world in 1991. Aktivist serves local information through magazines, WWW and mobile internet in seven countries. The service uses adaptive personalisation technology developed by Leiki.
2.11.01 CityInfo in Sonera Mspace
CityInfo gives you a personal view on music, movies, restaurants, sports and cultural events in major Finnish towns. It uses Mspace Personalisation to update your profile based on your actions and to find out which items are personally relevant. The same profile is shared by the News service, so if you e.g. read about the "A.I." movie in CityInfo you're more likely to get news on Artifical Intelligence in the News service. The content for the service is provided by Aktivist.
